Fernangel - A new brand and a new approach for the home-creation market
Essence Design started working with Fern Angel in December 2009. The company was seeking a brand consultancy to guide them through the development of a brand strategy and brand design to launch and position a new business: Anyone who has bought a plot of land to build his home on or a house to live in faces the ‘home-creation’ problem.
To respond to this problem, Fern Angel, a new brand, aims to solve it at least for residences in the top quartile. Together with the client, Essence Design initially developed a strategic analysis of the interior design, architecture and home furnishings market which highlighted the unique attributes of this new business, coining the term ‘home-creation’ as the most suitable when mapping the brand. We then defined the brand essence and created a core concept for the brand’s appearance.
The brand is a revolutionary new type of retailer, specialises in affordable, bespoke, high quality interiors, puts the client at the heart of the design and helps the client to create a setting in which the people in the household are happy: healthy, harmonious, and developing. We developed the strapline ‘A home made for you’ together with a logo that reflects the creativity of Fern Angel whilst being elegant and simple. This concept is brought through to the website using snapshots of real home life combined with slogans surrounding the problem-solving Fern Angel offers: ‘You do the living. We do the living room.’ ... ‘You do the cooking. We do the kitchen’... ‘You buy the plot. We build your house.’ etc.
